BHMS GEM Award Recipients

We proudly celebrate two of Beacon Hill Middle School's brightest gems, Johnnie Stroy and Rebecca Tussey, for receiving the Level IV GEM Award! This award recognizes educators whose impact on student learning is both measurable and profound, resulting in the highest levels of academic growth over the course of one year.

The Level IV GEM Award recognizes educators whose students demonstrated the highest levels of academic growth over the course of one year. Level IV Student Growth Percentile teachers must meet two benchmarks. First, at least 90% of the teacher's students demonstrate "expected or high growth" on the Milestones Assessment. Secondly, at least 50% of the teacher's students demonstrated "high growth" on Milestones assessments.

Excellence in Career and Technical Education!

Ms. Char Miller-King, now in her second year of teaching, has built a dynamic, project-based learning environment that has sparked tremendous student engagement and enrollment. In partnership with Carhartt, Ms. Miller-King and her students recently produced a commercial showcasing the real-world skills, creativity, and collaboration taking place in her classroom. She was recently recognized by the board!

The commercial stands as a powerful testament to her professionalism, innovation, and dedication to preparing the next generation of builders and problem solvers. Her work beautifully reflects our vision that every student is seen, supported, and successful at BHMS.
